As part of his research for his book ‘Agents of Influence – How the KGB Subverted Western Democracies’, the acclaimed investigative journalist and author Mark Hollingsworth needed to access and understand critical information contained in a rare Romanian book. This was the only copy in existence, and while Mark didn’t require the translation to meet the polished standards of a published literary work, he needed a high-quality, accurate translation to grasp the context and identify key individuals mentioned in the text.

“Our work as investigative authors requires us to think creatively and gather evidence tools to uncover the truth,” says Mark Hollingsworth. “I needed a translation solution that was fast and efficient while preserving nuances, humour, and context. The solution is called GAI Translate™ but I call it the ‘The Magic Machine’ since the result was nothing short of extraordinary.”

Agents of influence - Mark Hollingsworth

Using GAI Translate™ for speed and accuracy

The book, which was scanned and processed through GAI Translate, was translated in just five minutes – a stark contrast to the three weeks it would have taken for a traditional human translation. Despite challenges such as print bleeding on some pages, the typesetting was excellent, and the translation quality was exceptional, even capturing the humour embedded in the original text.

“GAI Translate allowed me to secure the information I needed for my research at a fraction of the cost of a human translation,” says Mark. “What would have cost ten times more and taken weeks to complete was delivered in minutes, and the results were remarkable. This quality is perfect for researchers like me.”

Enhancing research capabilities with GAI

GAI Translate’s advanced capabilities ensured that Mark could access the critical insights he needed without delay, enabling him to focus on his investigative work. The tool’s ability to handle complex texts with precision and speed proved invaluable for his research.

With the GAI ‘Magic Machine’, Mark Hollingsworth was able to unlock the facts he needed to enrich his book, ‘Agents of Influence’, while saving time and resources. The tool has proven to be an invaluable asset for professionals who need a fast, accurate translation.
